Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a child she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach or school shows before she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The most successful film of 2001 it set new records for its debut day opening and its opening weekend earnings. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British publication, has praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Later Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her role in the film and was awarded her the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in the Feature Film.
